Ensina Petrolina (“Teach Petrolina” in Portuguese) is the first and only (at least for now) English language blog in Petrolina, Pernambuco, Brasil. Its authors are Chelsea Waite and Cara Snyder (C², of course!), two Fulbright scholars who are dedicated to teaching English and cultural exchange as a part of internationalizing the community. Welcome—sejam bem-vindos—to English teachers and students, nordestinos, friends and family, other Fulbrighters, interested Americans, and all others!
This blog is not an official Fulbright Program site. The views expressed on this site do not represent Fulbright, UPE, IF-Sertão, or any other partner organizations.
I am an American from North Carolina, USA. I married a Brazilian and moved here to Petrolina. I am looking for advice on learning portuguese and find employment. Any advice?
Thanks,

I’m Alania Caroline. I’m studying business at UNIVASF.
I was so surprised to see that one of the blog’s author, Chelsea, will be my English teacher today. I think it’s very interesting to read about your experiences living and teaching here.
I’m pretty excitated about the course, to prepare myself to do the TOEFL.
See you
Hi Alania! I’m excited to start our class too 🙂 So glad you found the blog!
